I am back again with an another book review.. It is from a Non Fiction category. It is a true story.
The book I would be reviewing today is "Tested " By Author Alpesh H Patel
Plot Summary:
From the African bush to the streets of London, from the souks of Tangier and the concrete jungle of Hong Kong to the bling of Dubai and back to mother Africa; this is a riveting true story of what happens when an entrepreneur tries, tries and tries and falls more times than he succeeds. My Review:
To start with, I loved the title of the book "Tested". As per the author "This is a Memoir Of A Soul Tested", which I think is quite a heavy duty statement which says it all!!
Coming to the cover of the book, It looks no less than a Hollywood movie poster in the first glance. It has a very unique, serious and an intimidating vibe to it!! :)
Initially, I thought that this would be a great book for all the entrepreneurs and aspiring entrepreneurs. But that is not the case, any body can read this book and enjoy. Get inspired!! It is about a journey and how actual life is, that is full of ups and downs and full of failures,insecurities and then few success!!
Most of the time when we read autobiography of any successful business person, it often starts with a dramatic beginning like "I came into this big city with 500 Rs in my pocket" and then how he grew and became super successful...This book also starts with a dramatic beginning but not a typical beginning. The first sentence of the book is " I was born rich"!! It starts on a note that life is often unpredictable and your life can turn upside down in a matter of just few days.. But the key to live life is to keep trying and keep going!
Alpesh is an Afro- Indian business man and his mantra of life is "Keep Reinventing Yourself". His life is full of twists and turns, failures and success. It is his story of entrepreneurship. How he traveled from one country to another, in search of perfect business opportunities. From London to Hongkong to Tokyo to South Africa and journey goes on.
You will find lots of interesting motivating quotes in the book. It is an autobiography but not at all boring. Rather sometimes you will feel as if you are reading a story of a movie or a fiction tale, since the book is written in a very interesting manner and with lot of clarity.
Not just he has shared his career journey, but he has also shared his personal life memories like meeting his wife for the first time & how he tried to impress her, marriage, first house etc
I think it is a beautifully written book. It is just not a motivational speech but a journey full of real life lessons. Full of mistakes, failure, success and balance.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Would like to highly recommend this. If you are on a path of entrepreneurship, then you should definitely not miss this book. It can be a great read for you guys.
One thing it surely teaches is "Never Give Up" !!
Overall, excellent read. A book written in a balanced way!
