Book Review: The Bug The Bear And Baby Boo By Deepna Nagar

Hello Friends!

Hope everyone is doing fine! The book I am going to review today is from the Children's section. It is The Bug The Bear and Baby Boo by Indian author Deepna Nagar.

Plot Summary: Baby Boo is walking along with her mother in the jungle to fetch water when something catches her eye. Baby Boo follows it and finds herself in unfamiliar territory. Does she find her way back home?

Genre: Children Book

Publisher: Notion Press

Price: Rs 199/-

No. Of Pages: 35

Format: Paperback

Language: English

About The Author: Deepna Nagar has worked in the field of Human Resources for many years, dealing with adults mostly. When her daughter has born, it was a step into another world- one of storytelling and reading. It's a world which she enjoys and this book is her attempt at getting her readers to forge a bond with their kids when they read together.

My Review: It is a story about a small girl Baby Boo, who once was in the woods with her mother and suddenly saw something shiny. It was a bug and Baby Boo decides to follow it. What happened next is  the whole story about. Will she get lost? Will there be some kind of danger? Will she find her way back home?

The book is designed very beautifully and it came out to be a perfect gift I choose for a small kid in my family. The book is thin and kids can easily finish the book. The quality of the pages is very good.

Kids love the book filled with the pictures.

The book is easy and simple to understand. It is filled with illustrations at every step, which makes it fun read. The book is colourful and a great way to encourage reading skills of the children. Suitable for age group of 5-8 years.

The Font is big and clear, which is good for small kids too. The kid I gifted to loved the book specially the pictures. However, he got confused about the ending and wanted to know more.... :)

Would surely recommend this book. A cute little story perfect for bedtime!

Book Review: Prince Of Patliputra (The Asoka Trilogy Book 1) By Shreyas Bhave

Book Review: Prince Of Patliputra (The Asoka Trilogy Book 1) By Shreyas Bhave

Hello Friends,

Today I would be sharing a review of a very interesting book from the 'The Asoka Trilogy' series by an Indian Author Shreyas Bhave
Do you love history especially Indian history, then this book and series is for you..

Here is the Book 1- Prince Of Patliputra in the 'The Asoka Trilogy' series.
Book 1 revolves around the haunting question: Who will be the next Samrat of the revered land of Aryas? The first book of this riveting narrative captures the decline of a golden age, the upsurge of greed and chaos, the dark aspirations of royal heirs and the dramatic events in the remarkable life of a man of destiny.

Plot Summary: Bindusar rules the Indian sub continent from his capital, Patliputra. As Samrat's health declines due to a mysterious illness, problems and factions in fighting and rebellion, raise their heads across his realm. There is no clear successor as the 99 sons of Bindusar vie to ascend the throne.
Bharatvarsha waits for a warrior king to rise up and lead the Empire once again. Can young Prince Asoka, least favoured of Bindusar's sons, take on his grandfather's mantle? Can Radhagupta, a mere Councillor at court, be the inspiration Chanakya was to his Emperor and his people?

Genre: Fiction\Epic\History

No. Of Pages: 460

My Review: If you are a lover of Historical fiction, then you would adore this book totally!

The plot of the book is based in the era of very famous Mauryan empire and King Asoka!
We all have heard a lot of King Asoka and his controversial life and we have seen Bollywood version of it too :) So, it has always been a topic of fascination and curiosity among the story tellers of our country.
Story starts with the king, Bindusar getting ill and close to his death. He has 100 sons and his least liked among them, is Asoka.. As he is getting more and more ill, the big question arises that who will be the next successor to the throne? Will prince Sushem be the next king as everyone is expecting, who is present king's favourite or will prince Asoka will come into the picture in the run for throne...

While story starts with this present plot, the author very intelligently and seamlessly merged a parallel past about Chanakya and Chandragupta Maurya. Chandragupta was a disciple of guru Chanakya and was his favorite. The story tells about that time King Ambhi and his relationship with Chanakya.

It is a fast pace narrative and a well knit story line. Very intriguing plot. The writing style of the author is very  fluid and engaging. You will not feel a moment of boredom during the entire read. Although, most of the characters and references are picked from the Indian history, one needs to read this book as a pure work of fiction. It is a beautifully written epic story and not a history book, as some might have been thinking from the title.

The story is action packed and full of throne politics, betrayals, love, conspiracies etc. It was fun to read about Chanakya and his intelligent clever ways!
I am surely starting the second part of the book super soon..
Would like to highly recommend this book and series, for all those Historic fiction lovers!

Durriya Kapasi is a creative writing teacher, motivational speaker and a senior Wattpad Ambassador. She regularly contributes her skills for several social organizations.

My Review:
I do read a lot of Fantasy books, but not everyday you come across a book which revolves around Genies. The story actually attracted me to this book, since it was a bit different from the regular fantasy tales.
To start with, I just fell in love with the Book Cover as soon as it was released. It is so beautifully designed. It screams magic and an Arabic style! Very beautiful! :)
Although it is the second book in the Djinn Series by the author, you can totally read it even if you have not read the first part.

The protagonist of the story is Solomon, who is a human and Genie hybrid. Story starts with him discovering his powers and realizing that he is different and much more powerful form the other kids of his age. He then learns to control the powers and how to use it appropriately. Story continues with how Solomon becomes desperate to know about his Biological father and his kingdom and all the secrets behind his life. The adventure begins when his foster father Darren was kidnapped and the kingdom of his Genie father was threatened.
Will Solomon support both or will he only save his foster father. How will he save the Genie world, knowing nothing about the Genies!! There are Bad Genies who want war as well as good Genies to support him..
That are all the questions you will get answers for in this book.

The writing style of the author is simple yet engaging. It is not a very fat book and an easy fun read. You can complete the book in few days very easily, even if you are not a very fast reader.
The main beauty of the book is its simplicity yet an interesting story. However, having said that I found the first half of the book much better and interesting than the second half of the book. Some of the scenes seemed to be dragged or to be over elaborated. Really loved how the author has described the whole Genie Land and all the characters of the story.

Overall It is a fun read....A nice one time read for all those Fantasy Lovers! :)
